Flower Friday- Amazing Anemones to bring your Spring alive

Spring is well and truly on its way. I can’t say it has arrived but the crocuses and the snowdrops are such a welcomed sight. The frost in the morning is not so much. However, I have a little sunshine sticker on my calendar on the day when the clocks spring forward. I just cannot wait.

I adore an Anemone. More specifically Anemone Coronaria. There is something rather special about their large billowing petals and oversized dark centre. The flower nestles among the dark, green leaves. It’s a simple flower but so very beautiful.

Here is some Anenome inspiration for you this Friday because you made it! You absolutely deserve your screen to be filled with pretty.

Thrifty Tip:

They are super easy to grow (in full sun) and make beautiful cut flowers for your home. They are grown most easily from bulbs.

If you’re marrying between March and early May they make the most perfect wedding flower- they grow to a decent size (7cm across approximately). You can find them in white, purple-blue and red. Remember, all flowers will be cheaper if you purchase them in-season. Go on, fill your house with Anemones this Spring.

Talent Thursday- Fabulous Flottles™ By Liberty

I am just loving Talent Thursday. Reading about such talented people who work so hard to make couples’ days beautifully unique makes me so very happy. This week is no exception. Although, Liberty may be one of the most creative ladies I have written about.

Flottles™ offers couples bespoke wedding flowers but not in the way you may be thinking. No, Liberty makes flowers by hand from scratch and boy-oh-boy are they gorgeous. From your bridal bouquet to your button holes, Liberty designs a wide range of items. Offering bunting, corsages, hair accessories and flower girl’s flowers brides-to-be should enquire away, Liberty has everything covered!

3122350_orig

What does she use to create these flowers I hear you ask? Well my lovelies, not only is Liberty creating such wonderful eye-candy but she is helping to save our little planet by using desirable reclaimed materials with vintage finishings. As she offers a bespoke service, the flowers can be adapted to any colour scheme. From brides searching for a pop of colour to those looking for pastels.

7107783_orig

What I love more than anything about Flottles™ is that you can hold onto your wedding flowers after your day, Liberty creates everlasting keepsakes.

flottles 6516219_orig flottles 2 7278187_orig 4648298_orig

Not only does Liberty support brides and do flower installations but she also sells such lovely items on her website. I just absolutely love her flowers placed on pieces of driftwood and her bright jewellery- it all reminds me of our summer days.

2982011_orig

Lovely words from previous clients:

Liberty made all the flowers for my table centre pieces for my wedding and they were AMAZING!! Everyone commented on how unique and beautiful they were. I had them in birdcages and they looked stunning. She painted them to match the colour scheme of the wedding and best of all I get to keep them forever and now whenever I look at them, I’m reminded of our special day. I can’t praise her or her talents enough..one very talented lady!! If you’re looking for something special and unique for any occasion this is the person to contact -Mrs Jay Mulla.

Thrifty Tips:

“Flottles™ bridal flowers aim to embrace sustainability. They are individually hand created from reclaimed materials including cut plastic sheet, fabric and lace and combined with precious jewellery pieces and hand sewn beading.

Brides love that their chosen flowers are a real talking point at their wedding, guests notice them and want to know more about how they were created. The flowers can also be kept after the wedding, whether they are displayed in a vase or the accessories are used on other occasions.

As I hand sew the beading on the accessories I can mix pre-used jewellery and beads with crystals, cut glass and freshwater pearls. On one occasion, silver lockets and jewellery that held special memories of a bride’s grandmother were tied with beautiful ribbons onto the bouquet.

I encourage brides to look up the smaller, independent creative businesses. There are truly talented people out there who are able to make the most beautiful items that you would just never find anywhere else. Even down to the wedding favours, find independent illustrators for invites and wedding signage. Mix shop bought items with your own handmade accessories. Just have fun!

There are some fabulous workshops available to make accessories and table settings for weddings. What a great way to make the small details personal and unique!”

Yes Liberty! Hear, hear! Such lovely words and so true. Do have a little look at her website it is filled with lots of pretty- and lots of pretty by the seaside!

Wedding Dress Wednesday- Marvellous Maids to Measure

Recently I did a post about bridesmaid dresses- writing about how to make your life easier when it comes to purchasing the perfect gowns. I have decided to follow it up with a little post on Maids to Measure because I think their concept is just fabulous. It was started by two British ladies who saw a need in the wedding world for helping bridemaids find the perfect dress. I hear them!

The benefits of using Maids to Measure:

♥ It’s all very British- love.

♥ Their website is absolutely darling.

♥ Grab an appointment with either their London boutique or with one of their stockists or stylists nationwide. Drink champagne and enjoy some quality time with your maids whilst solving one of the trickiest things to-do on the wedding to-do list. Win, win! Dresses start from £265

♥ …or you can order online starting from £255.

♥ There is a huge array of dress styles from vintage to classic to modern.

♥ Choose your fit, neckline, colour and length.

♥ They have a maternity collection.

♥ They even sell accessories to compliment your chosen gowns.

There are some of the most gorgeous photographs of bridesmaids wearing their designs on their website.

Here my favourite picks:

I mean, seriously what is not to love about this company? My advice is to head on over to their website either just to see how lovely it is or to find answers to any question you may have. Their FAQs page is very useful.

Thrifty Tip:

Sorting all the dresses at the same time will save you time and money in the long run. The amount you would spend on trips out shopping would be saved by organising a single appointment.

Tattle- Ten Tips For Staying Zen Around Your Wedding Day

It doesn’t matter how hard you try, the lead up to your wedding day can become stressful. This may be in the final few days or for some this may continue over a longer period of time. It really depends on two things: how organised you have been with organising it all and how you deal with your own thoughts.

If someone tells you they didn’t get a little worried about the logistics of it all then they would be lying. For me, it was the last 3 days because it felt like all the little things couldn’t be completed until then. However, there are many ways of alleviating certain stresses.

♥ Organise your budget early.

♥ Consider whether you have the time or inclination to start from scratch- Package or DIY.

Naomi & Alistair - 07.08.14 (141 of 518)

Andrew J Squires

♥ Organise your to do list early. Talk months, weeks then days well in advance.

♥ Make time for each other so you don’t get too wrapped up in the day. Spend time on your relationship-I emphasise this point a lot!

Velvet Storm- Kat and Matt 12

Velvet Storm Photography

♥ Talk in detail about your wedding planning to the people you know will be helpful and won’t meddle. Otherwise, you can get caught up in pointless conversations. As far as people who you would rather not chat shop to are concerned- it’s going great.

♥ Take holiday if you can around the wedding day, even if it is just two days before- you will not regret it!

♥ Consider hiring a wedding co-ordinator- it may be the best £500 you have ever spent- especially if you have chosen to do it all DIY.

Naomi & Alistair - 07.08.14 (118 of 518)

Andrew J Squires

♥ If people have offered to help, take them up on the offer, even if it is pom pom making- you will appreciate the help. Let go! You can do it! People really do love knowing they supported you on the day.

♥ When people say to you, “It’s just one day,” it can sound a little patronising. Don’t think of it as, ‘It’s just one day,’ think of it as a day you have organised to share your love for each other with your closest friends and family. It doesn’t need to be absolutely perfect or over-the-top, it just needs to depict your love for each other. If you worry about that more and less about the day itself, you will not worry about the little things.

Real Wedding- Kat and Matt’s Rustic Themed Wedding With Purple Hues

…and they married. I know! It’s here- part two of Kat and Matt’s love story. Take one rather dapper groom, one extremely glamorous bride- throw in bold purples, glitter, one VW Camper, waistcoats and a lot of laughter. What do you get? A day filled with a whole load of love and happiness.

If you missed Kat and Matt’s engagement shoot then you seriously missed out. If you have been following their story then you will be very prepared for this wedding. Their day is wonderfully unique to them. It was a day for their friends and family to celebrate their relationship, the photographs show just how much their loved ones enjoyed being part of the wedding.

This is a wedding you would want to have attended my lovelies. You will be rather jealous. Velvet Storm has done it again. Their photographs capture moments and as a result I am able to share with you a wedding day story through gorgeous pictures…

Marrying legally in the drawing room in Horsham Registry office they used their VW Campervan, hired from Deluxe Wedding Hire, to transport them to their reception based at Tulleys Farm in West Sussex. Tulleys farm is a new venue situated between London and Brighton in the Sussex Countryside. You can choose from a variety of venue options which allows couples to bring their own ideas to life. Kat and Matt fell in love with this venue straight away.

The day was filled with handmade touches from the jars to the place names. The large love letters were provided by Not Just for Hire which created a beautiful display in the evening while Darren Smith performed on his Saxophone.

Using such bright colours reflected the couple’s personality but also gave the photographs impact. The couple created a relaxed day by having a laid back ceremony with their closest friends and family and because they used a venue which was a blank canvas- giving them more freedom to fill it with whatever they felt added to the feel of their day. They wanted a vintage wedding with touches of glam. The bridesmaid dresses, Jenny Packham shoes and the accessories both the bride and groom wore gave the day the glamorous feel while the little touches such as bunting, flowers and teacups gave it a rustic feel.

Thrifty Tip:

Use a campervan as transport. You can fit a lot of your wedding party in one campervan meaning you save money on cars and they get to travel in style. You can fit 6 people in a campervan which is all your maids or all your groomsmen.

Collect your own jam jars and decorate them in gardener’s twine. It is so cheap to use twine and looks rustic but lovely. Get friends and family to help you to collect jars, this will give you a wide variety to choose from. Do go out and buy ‘Sticky Stuff Remover’ from Lakeland- the best label remover in the world!

Kat used Gypsophila for her bridesmaid’s bouquet- such a cheap but effective flower.

Real Wedding- Kat and Matt's Rustic Themed Wedding With Purple Hues

A huge thank you to Velvet Storm for taking such beautiful photographs of their gorgeous day.

The best of luck to Matt and Kat with the next chapter of their relationship.

Lots of Love

Styled Sunday- Wedding Rabbit Gorgeousness Tattleboard

Today I thought I would inspire you with a rabbit themed wedding. As it is March the days become lighter, the flowers begin to bloom and it really begins to feel like Spring. For some reason rabbits come to mind whenever I think of this time of year.

Having a rabbit themed wedding is rather lovely for several reasons. Mainly because rabbits are just so beautiful and there is a lot of rabbit themed items out there but also because they really do show a lot of love. Rabbits bond in pairs- they really do fall in love with each other and once bonded they pair-up for life. My two rabbits absolutely adore each other!

Tattle- Top Ten Etsy-Not Overly Soppy- Mother’s Day Cards

My non-pukey Valentine’s Day card post was a real hit with you all so I have decided to do one about Mother’s Day cards. Hands up if you hate standing in a card shopping rummaging through ‘best mum in the world’ cards? Well, I recommend buying a card online but in particular from Etsy sellers. I think Etsy is underused in the UK. Sure there are the likes of Moonpig and Not on the High Street but I just love Etsy. (Some of the sellers do sell their designs on Not on the High Street too).

For me, nothing beats the satisfaction of purchasing an item directly from the person who made it in the first place. I pre-warn you, I may have snuck in a couple of non-human mother’s day cards- sorry but I just couldn’t resist them.

Here are my Top Ten picks and believe me they are cracking!

Kat and Matt’s kooky engagement shoot in the vibrant Brighton Lanes

I absolutely adore engagement shoots. I have read a few posts on wedding blogs discussing their uncertainty about sharing them. For me however, the more engagement shoots I receive the merrier. Why do I love them so much? Well, because the photographs are just about the couple and their absolute love for each other at a time when they feel their hearts will just burst with infatuation and excitement- they are about to get married. The engagement shoot is time out of the wedding planning for a couple to spend some quality time with each other and the photographs are full of just sheer happiness.

Velvet Storm- Kat and Matt 28

The engagement shoot I am sharing with you today is no exception- in fact it is starting off Wedding Tattle’s engagement shoot features perfectly. Velvet Storm have taken the most gorgeous pictures which show just how in love this rather lovely couple are with each other. I know you are going to just love them.

Brighton was the setting for Kat and Matt’s shoot. They wandered through North Laine and along the Pavilion- which is where Kat’s mum and dad got married 37 years ago. Oh gosh! It’s all too lovely:

The couple’s love story:

Kat was having a night out in Brighton for her 30th birthday while Matt was visiting his best friend in North Laine from Wales. While out, they met each other and had an instant connection- hitting it off straight away. Kat felt that Matt was her dream-boat but of course their meeting was all so unexpected.

Velvet Storm- Kat and Matt 17

As their relationship began they visited each other regularly. On one visit, when Kat went to see Matt in Wales, she forgot to take a change of clothes. The weather was awful and she simply wanted to stay in. Matt was determined to take her to a beautiful French restaurant so Kat had to go out in her work clothes. Over the menus and through nervousness Matt slid a ring across the table to Kat- only then did Kat realise what Matt was up to. He asked her to be his wife and the rest is history.

Velvet Storm- Kat and Matt 29

Their engagement shoot took place in Brighton as it is full of great memories for them both- it’s where it all started. They both love how crazy and full of life it is. The Lanes in particular reflect their personalities. They both adore their photographs taken by Velvet Storm with the graffiti and bright colours. Their wedding is going to be a vintage/glam theme based in West Sussex at Tulleys Farm- a new venue which is rather unique. It is a blank canvas and allows couples to bring their ideas to life. It was the first venue they looked at and they instantly fell in love with it.

Velvet Storm- Kat and Matt 4

I know what you’re thinking; “Now I want to see the wedding!” Well my lovelies the next chapter of this love story is being featured right here in a few days. Eep! Believe me, if you thought these photos were lovely, wait until you see the way Nick and Nicci captured their wedding.

Talent Thursday- Belle Fleur Florists

Stephanie Jackson is one lovely, inspirational florist. Young, enthusiastic and really rather brilliant. Her designs are gorgeous and her business- Belle Fleur Florists– is growing as a result.

In 2014 Stephanie won ‘Best New Floral Designer 2014’ in the Kent, England and Worldwide Category in the ‘Wedding Industry Awards’. I know! What an accolade.

Nadine

Inspired by vintage and based in the Garden of England, they cover Kent, Essex, Sussex and London. Stephanie has a young, creative and rather passionate team of florists behind her aiming to, as Stephanie puts it so beautifully- “Bring floral splendour for your big day.” I love floral splendour!

Lovely words from previous clients:

So… Where do I start. Apart from giving a fantastic price and the upmost care and advice from the beginning, you are AMAZING at what you do. I cannot possibly thank you enough for how utterly breath-taking you made my venue look. From the small delicate touches around to your thought and consideration in making things easier for me. The flowers were a talking point, how beautiful they looked. I walked into that venue and really believed I was in my own fairy tale. As for the bridal party bouquets… Wow. As you saw they brought tears to my eyes, the love you put into creating them for me & inputting some personal touches I wanted was incredible. Steph, you have been amazing from start to finish. I cannot recommend you enough. You simply are remarkable at your work. Thank you for making my dreams a reality, my venue was stunning. We will be forever grateful, Sarah & Barry x

Thrifty Tips from Belle Fleur:

“With the vintage theme staying strong for 2015/2016, this gives you as a bride the opportunity to use more cost effective flowers such as Gypsophila which has made such a come back in the recent years, not only is it so pretty but it’s very kind to the purse strings. Ensure you know or ask your florist what flowers are in season when you get married as these are obviously a lot easier for your florist to get and tend to be cheaper in price.  Always ask for alternatives-any good florist will be able to offer this to you!”

10396293_686226784826710_3597835492667752758_n

I adore Gyposphila- as it happens I did a whole post all about how much I love it which has been rather popular on Wedding Tattle.

A huge thank you to the wonderful Stephanie for contacting me. I wish you and your team the best of luck with 2015.
